Earworm
I’ve had a new single by The Super Pumas on heavy rotation in the last few days. You know when you hear a song and it just catches your imagination? So much so that you play it on repeat and you don’t tire of it. Anyone reading this who is a generation or two younger than me may not understand the next bit, but I remember filling one side of a C60 mixtape with The Tourist’s version of the Dusty Springfield classic I Only Want to Be With You a song I was obsessed with at the time. I’m still not tired of it. Anyway, if I still had cassettes I would have done the same with this track the band have shared in advance of their debut album.
Circles Roaming
The single, Circles Roaming, is released on the 27th October, with the album following in November. Based on what I’ve heard, I’m hoping I get a copy before well before then.
The Super Pumas are a modern rock trio from Inverclyde, Scotland who have a flair for a vast bewitching melody and a knack for a soaring hook. The single rises and falls starting delicately with sensitively played instruments and backing vocals ascending to the lofty refrain and back again.
If you can’t wait until the 27th, head to their website for a sneak preview and buy their earlier Fantastic Terror EP.
