Glasgow’s Save Face released their debut single, God’s House, the third song featured on their debut EP All the Gold in the World released in January, a month which also saw them play a blissed out set as part of King Tuts New Years Revolution alongside Tanzana, Naked Actress and Aldous.
Like their live set, the EP suitably kicks off with Intro, a beautifully spirited folk infused instrumental, which, despite having no lyrics,, manages to capture the warm dual vocals which are a feature of the bands sound. The vocals are one of the factors which are a highlight of following song An Understanding, the interplay and timbre of the voices have the ability to radiate a feeling of wellbeing.
The aforementioned single God’s House continues to platform those textured and comforting vocals alongside infectious chiming jangle pop guitars with inflections of Afrobeat appearing here and there.
My favourite song of their live set closes out the EP, “imagine one day you wake up and you’re just a head” was the intro to Nobody, a live version of which appears on the EP. The song takes the tempo up a notch, the urgency in the vocals becoming more and more frenetic atop the compelling bluesy garage rock riffs as the song reaches its rambunctious conclusion.
Currently next up for Save Face is a Match date (22nd) in the Poetry Club with The Euphonics.
