Pick of the Gigs for December

For reasons too boring to go into, the last part of Novembers Singles round up hasn’t yet been completed, and the pick of the gigs for December is appearing a week into the month with some top gigs already passed…

My first week in December didn’t quite go as planned… the pattern of missing more gigs than I’ve seen in 2025 continues having missed Gutterblood’s first Glasgow gig last Wednesday. My ticket for Thursday’s gig featuring The Liminanas supported by the brilliant Scorpio Leisure also went a-begging AND even with the best will in the world I was never making t back to Glasgow for the 5pm launch of Lacuna’s new EP Nest in Assai on Friday afternoon… Let’s hope 2026 is a better year for so many reasons.

There are still dozens of amazing gigs to enjoy in December, the coming week with a distinct Christmas theme running though it… it starts in style tonight with a Present Drive in King Tuts featuring Tina Sandwich, Gallus and Woeful Idle before Sunderland’s The Futureheads play Oran Mor on Monday the 8th, where I’m sure Christmas Was Better in the 80s will be making a welcome appearance. More Christmas cheer will be forthcoming in the shape of The Christmas Song on Tuesday when The Raveonettes play The Classic Grand, while on Wednesday its the turn of Conscious Pilot to entertain Glasgow’s music fans with their first Christmas Party gig in McChuills with Dancer and Bestco International Supermarket

Thursday and Friday are challenging, as the choice of gigs is quite overwhelming! First up on Thursday there is … read em and weep … a choice of at least 5 gigs which come with a Ginger Quiff seal of approval…. with BRMC celebrating the 20th anniversary of Howl in the Academy, while Hamish Hawk visits the Barrowland Ballroom, Scunner play their final gig in 1990 with Arrows Meet and The Twistettes supporting, Normal Service play in The Old Hairdressers and The Zips play a free gig in Bloc+. Meanwhile Friday sees Clay Rings play Nice n Sleazy while Lacuna celebrate the release of their brilliant Nest EP with a gig in King Tuts, while The Creeping Bent Organisation have a final Glasgow hurrah in Mono with performances from Port Sulphur, The Bluebells, The Leopards and The Secret Goldfish and in Stereo Former Champ are sure to play a knockout show with support from Babyshark.

On Saturday the 13th, Gaye Bykers on Acid bring their Nosedive Karma back to Glasgow once again, this time playing Ivory Blacks, while PVC play in 1990 with Naked Fraser and Foreign2 in tow.

The following week on Tuesday 16th in the Hug and Pint there is a Shindig fundraising gig for Palestine Red Crescent Society featuring Water Machine, Maz & the Phantasms, Vibrator and a final ever performance from Ginger Quiff favourite’s Junk Pups, another of Glasgow’s top exports Brontes play with Majesty Palm on the same night in King Tuts. On Wednesday 17th Ginger Wildheart brings his birthday Bash to Glasgow once again, playing Oran Mor with fellow Hodge, Carol on keyboards. Friday the 19th offers up a night of electroclash/punk with VLURE supported by Dictator, Pearling and iwanttobeontv playing the No a Mean City event in the Beech Avenue Social Club. As the end of the year comes ever closer, my gig going year has me closing out my gig year in Nice n Sleazy for the superb f.o. machete supporting the Miki Berenyi Trio as I missed out on buying a ticket for the annual Joe Strummer tribute night in King Tuts on the 22nd. Also on the 20th flinch. play their annual flinchmas. gig in The Old Hairdressers with irked, Frog Costume and Michael M.

The December gigs don’t end their though, before the year comes to a close the brilliant San Jose play what is sure to be a raucous night in King Tuts on the 29th while The Scottish Sex Pistols and Combat Rock team up for a night of punk mayhem in Paisley in The Bungalow on the 30th.

I need to steel myself for January with a wheen of gigs already announced and tickets purchased…
