There has been a flurry of activity from Martin Metcalfe and associated acts this week.
The Filthy Tongues
First up, the Filthy Tongues dropped a clip of a new song at the start of the week. Mummy Can’t Drive sounds very Bowie-esque to me. Featuring Marie Claire Lee who has been ably filling Shirley Manson’s shoes on recent Goodbye Mr MacKenzie dates, is this a little taster of what is to come from the third album in the trilogy? I hope so…
Goodbye Mr MacKenzie
Talking of Goodbye Mr MacKenzie, Good Deeds and Dirty Rags finally has an official release date and a flourish of promotional activity announced that this week. 1st of November sees the official re-release of the classic album on remastered vinyl, but you may want to hold off rushing in and pre-ordering now, as there are special anniversary packages to be announced. I recently revisited the album here.
Run Into the Night
And today, the hotly anticipated new single from the sublime Run Into the Night (interviewed recently on the ginger quiff) sees the light of day. Featuring a certain Martin Metcalfe, the beautifully affecting haunting ballad is a tribute to Christina’s late grandfather. Mon Cheri is available now on all the usual streaming platforms. Or buy it now on their bandcamp page.
The Vibrating Ecstatic Now
Add to that a wheen of live dates from all bands including a series of The Vibrating Ecstatic Now events this weekend.
Phew.
Stay Filthy…
