I feel it is very remiss of me not to have featured this podcast production company before now, but as the saying goes, better late than never.
Ok, so there is an element of nepotism here. Cup & Nuzzle is a production company co-founded by BBC6 Music presenter, and drummer from Menswe@r, one of my favourite bands to rise out of the awfully named Britpop “scene”, Matt Everitt and of course, and perhaps more importantly, my talented cousin, Graham Hodge.
I know of several people who have spent a large proportion of the last 12 months furloughed due to the worldwide pandemic. As a result they have turned to a variety of different ways to keep themselves entertained. This situation is reflected and multiplied tenfold as you consider how many other are in a similar situation. Podcasts are therefore a booming industry, a fact which hasn’t passed Cup and Nuzzle by. They have a burgeoning list of high quality podcasts to there name.
Shows
Head over to Cup & Nuzzle’s website to view the whole range of podcast they have been involved in. However, as the writer of a blog which I started as a way of sharing some of my favourite music and managing my own mental health, as well as well as trying to keep a focus on positive mental health, I’d recommend just some of these as highlights:
- Transmissions – celebrating the music of Joy Division, New Order and Factory Records.
- Help – a 25th Anniversary story of the War Child album.
- Killing It – a series of interviews with high profile musicians who “may look like they’re killing it, but in reality, life is much more complicated.”
The range is broader than that though, having also been responsible for the production of True Spies, a series that “takes you inside the world’s greatest espionage operations”.
There is something here that would suit all tastes. If you are looking for a new podcast, or if you’re new to podcasts altogether, this is as good a place as any to start.
